Did you miss part 1 of our Gratitude Activity?
If not welcome back!
Once our Thanksgiving Mix was made we got to work creating our Pocket of Blessings!
I originally found this idea HERE at Cinnaberry Suite. (I wish I had double checked her link as I made the Pocket of Blessing tags! I loved the dashed line she added around. Next time I guess!)
- Pockets (Old Jeans)
- Embellishments (we used buttons, cut out felt leaves and pumpkins and ribbon)
- Gratitude sayings
Before the activity I cut out the pockets and attached the twine. I also cut the muslin into squares and wrote Pocket of Blessings on each. Then gathered all the supplies together
For the activity each girl decorated their own pocket gluing on whatever embellishments they wanted.
Once completed we added in our stack of quotes.
For each day in November they have a quote to read about Gratitude.
Some are scriptures, some are sayings I found via pinterest and others are quotes I found from church leaders. On the back of each quote I used this image:
- via:Blissful Roots
from Blissful Roots as a free download. I did adapt it so that I had 6 on a page. I told the girls they could use their quote pages two different ways. The first – do the activity with their family and each night come up with 5 things to be thankful for that day and write them down. The second way – use the quote pages for 5 years and this year use the #1 line and then next year use #2 etc.
While they created their pockets I bagged up our Thanksgiving Blessing Mix. We had enough for each girl to have one and an extra. I asked the girls if they could think of anyone in our church group we could show our appreciation and Gratitude for. They decided on the Bishop so we dropped off our extra bag with a little note at his house.
I think the girls all did a Marvelous job on their pockets!
If anyone is interested I am willing to share the Gratitude quote pages I compiled to go in the pockets -Just leave me a comment and I will do my best to send them your way shortly.
