Volcano Eggs!

Woody is fascinated with volcanos right now.  So when I saw Volcano Eggs on
Toddler Approved! I knew we had to give it a try!

As far as decorating Easter eggs goes this is a pretty simple fun way too!

Here’s what you need:

  • Hard boiled eggs
  • vinegar
  • baking soda
  • paintbrushes
  • a few small cups to mix your “paint” in
  • A rounded bowl or dish to contain your volcano egg

First, mix up about 1 TBS of baking powder with 1-2 tsp of water and add a few drops of food coloring until your paint is a consistency and color you like.

Next, paint your eggs with your baking soda paint.

Then, if you want some added extra color drop a few drops of coloring on your painted eggs.

Last but not least, pour vinegar over top of your egg and watch your volcano come to life!

Feel free to continue painting and pouring vinegar on your egg until you get tired of it!  (Not sure that is really possible, my boys were in HEAVEN with this one.  For Thumper the novelty never seemed to wear off.  I wish I had a video of the giggles and oooo’s and AHH’s mixed with LOOK BUBBLES!)

When we were down to our last egg and needing to clean up the kids decided to try out placing our last egg in one of the paint cups and then added all the other colors to it before pouring vinegar into the cup.  It made a pretty neat volcano as well!

So go grab some eggs this week and give Volcano Eggs a try!
