“Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love,
a gift to that person,a beautiful thing.”
~ Mother Teresa
A couple of month’s ago I was given another calling in church. I get to work with the 8 year old girls and hold what we call activity days 2 times a month. This week was the first activity I was in charge of.
Since it was January and we have been all about snowmen here I went with that as my theme. I found a cute tutorial HERE for snowman cupcakes and then ran with the idea. First I had the girls look around at the various snowmen I had around the house and I asked them if they ever saw a frowning snowman. . . NOPE
We then talked about how important our smiles are. They make us more approachable, brighten others etc. We also talked about how through our smiles we can share the light of Christ we each have.
After our discussion and reading some fun quotes about smiles we moved on to our activity. Snowmen cupcakes. They each made 2 one to eat and one to give away and help someone to smile.
For the cupcakes you will need the following supplies:
- frosting ( I just used regular buttercream frosting)
- jelly belly jelly beans (or belly flops work great too!)
- chocolate chips and mini chocolate chips
- Frost cupcake
- Arrange marshmallows for brim of cap
- Carefully add sprinkles (we had to do a bit of patting them to get them to stick!)
- Add eyes (chocolate chips or jelly beans cut in half)
- Add nose (Jelly Belly jelly beans or you could use orange Tic Tacs)
- Add SMILING mouth
I also made some little boxes for the cupcakes the girls were giving away with a spot they could write a little note to whoever they chose to deliver their cupcake to.
There you have it! For fun I am also including another one of the quotes I found and really liked about smiles. Have a FABULOUS FRIDAY! 🙂
A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. ~Author Unknown
